Meet the Coaches
In 2024, we welcome Grace Zack and Regan Hyder as our head coaches!
My name is Grace Zack! I swam for the Wahoos for eleven years and was one of the “Swoaches” (swim coaches) the last two years. I am currently one of the swim coaches for Patuxent Aquatics Club. I swam with them for four years! I attend Howard Community College; majoring in secondary education in mathematics. I am excited for this season, Go Wahoos!
My name is Regan Hyder! I currently attend York College of Pa. I am a nursing major and a part of the women’s swim team at York. I swam for West Laurel for 12 years and helped out as an assistant coach for the past 2 years! I also swam for Patuxent Aquatics Club for four years and now I am one of the managers at West Laurel! I can’t wait for the upcoming year!
Volunteering
The Wahoos depend on family volunteers to run successful meets. There are a variety of roles available. Parents may volunteer for team leadership positions and swim meet support positions, the latter of which are mandatory. If you’re new to swimming, volunteering as a timer is a great place to start. A description of the various volunteer positions available can be found in the WLST Handbook.
Wahoos Swim Team 2023 Season
Following the successful 2022 season, the Wahoos moved up a Division and faced greater competition. The Wahoos sent 12 swimmers to the Prince-Mont Swim League (PMSL) All-Stars meet. The team was coached by Terry McCall assisted by Grace Zack, Regan Hyder, Kara Schmidt, Katie Hendershot, Kelsi Hendershot, and several parent and swimmer volunteers. More information about the PMSL can be found here.
